Fort Street Bridge across the Rouge River Launched

September 18, 2015

The bascule leaf, which was erected on the west shore, is currently being launched across the Rouge River where it will be mated with the heel/counterweight portion of the span. The bascule will then be raised to the open position to clear the waterway.

The historic bridge, located in Detroit, MI, is being replaced by a new five-lane bridge with a 176-foot single-leaf bascule over the navigation channel.
