Murray Morgan Bridge Named ENR Northwest Best Highway/Bridge Project for 2013

December 23, 2013

The Murray Morgan Bridge was named ENR Northwest’s Best Highway Bridge Project for 2013.  The award was presented to the design-build team of PCL Constructors and Hardesty & Hanover in a banquet on December 3rd in California. The Best Projects Awards are selected by a jury of local prominent industry professionals. Categories awarded cover a variety of categories. ENR Magazine’s independent jury recognized 21 winners in 13 categories. Twelve projects were awarded the high honor of “Best Project” in their respective categories. Those projects will advance to the national competition to be considered for a “Best of the Best” national award.

The bridge is the result of a successful design-build program featuring H&H as the Engineer of Record and PCL Constructors as the General Contractor. The two-year, $47 million project rehabilitated the bridge utilizing a combination of Federal and local funds.

The original historic vertical lift bridge was designed by H&H’s predecessor firm, Waddell and Harrington, and was placed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1982.
