Sarah Mildred Long Bridge Team To Meet With Community

November 19, 2013

Kittery, Maine – Officials from the Maine Department of Transportation, the JV Team of Hardesty & Hanover/ Figg Engineering and contractor Cianbro Corp. are set to meet with the public to discuss progress of the new bridge plans. Mike Hawkins, PE, H&H Project Manager and Pete Roody, PE, Deputy Project Manager will be speaking at the meeting.

This will be the second time the local community has viewed the plans for the new iconic structure.  Revisions to the towers were made to better reflect the waterfront communities of Portsmouth and Kittery, which are adjacent to the bridge.  Earlier in the day, the project team will be meeting with the bridge stakeholders committee, a group which includes residents and local and state officials, to give them an initial glimpse of the newly proposed designs.

“This is an exciting time for the project team,”  said Mike Hawkins.  “We are looking forward to the community’s response to the revised design.”

The new Sarah Mildred Long Bridge will be located upriver from the existing bridge.  It will include a new vertical lift bridge with a 300-foot-long lift span, providing access for vehicles, pedestrians and rail traffic.
