Hardesty & Hanover (H&H) has recently won the following projects:
Copenhagen: 2009 Inner Harbour Footbridge Design Competition

H&H will be providing the following services:
Hardesty & Hanover, as a subconsultant to Flint & Neill (now COWI), will perform the design for Copenhagen's new landmark sliding bridge, which has been dubbed "the kissing bridge". The winning bridge has a low profile combined with transparency and the opening section is described as appearing to float in the air. People will be able to stand on viewing platforms at the edge of the navigation channel, even when the bridge is open for ships and boats to pass through. The opening span is 50m and the total length is 180m.
NYCDOT: 2009 Total Design & CSS for Component Rehabilitation of 9 Bridges

H&H will be providing the following services:
Total Design and Construction Support Services that includes the preparation of designs, bridge studies, preliminary design, final design, the preparation of construction support documents; and bid analysis services in support of the letting of the construction for Component Rehabilitation of 9 Bridges, Boroughs of Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan and Queens.
SLSMC: 2009 Bridge No. 6 Replacement Study

H&H will be providing the following services:
Hardesty & Hanover, LLP and Byrne Engineering JV has been selected by the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation to evaluate and prepare the replacement options for Bridge No. 6 over the Welland Canal, St. Catherine, Canada. The existing bridge comprises of two single leaf rolling lift bridges that seat on a common monolith at the center of the canal waterway. This arrangement gives the Corporation the flexibility of two lock passages for navigation traffic.
The study scope of work is to include three options, (1) rehabilitation to the existing structures, (2) replacement with two bascule bridges, and (3) replacement with two vertical lift bridges. H&H as part of the JV will study the third replacement option, and share the second option. Due to the high rail and navigational traffic, the staging of construction will be a critical aspect of the study option selected.
2009 Statewide OnCall Moveable & Floating Bridge, Special Structures and Tunnels Engineering Inspection Services

H&H will be providing the following services:
Hardesty & Hanover has been selected by the Washington State Department of Transportation to conduct On-Call Moveable & Floating Bridge, Special Structures and Tunnels Engineering Inspection Services for 2010 through 2013.
2009 Grand Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Design

H&H will be providing the following services:
This project involves the design development and final contract documents, for the rehabilitation of the Grand Avenue Bridge over the Quinnipiac River (Bridge No. 03810). The preliminary and final design will focus on a rehabilitation project that extends the overall service life of the structure by 20 years with a significant reduction in annual maintenance expenses.
Design Services for the Rehabilitation for River Street and Western Avenue Bridges

H&H will be providing the following services:
Hardesty & Hanover has been selected to perform the study and rehabilitation design of two historic arch bridges over the Charles River. These bridges carry vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle traffic from Cambridge and Boston. This project will be performed under the State's Accelerated Bridge Program utilizing ARRA funds.
Kennedy Space Center: 2009 Bridge Inspections

H&H will be providing the following services:
The inspection of four bascule span highway bridges, one railroad bascule span bridge, a highway overpass, a bridge over a tidal relief, and three culverts. The contract also includes load ratings for all of the bridges.
2009 University of Phoenix Stadium Inspection

H&H will be providing the following services:
The project will be a 3-year contract, that includes performing annual inspection services on the retractable roof and field mechanization systems, as well as technical services on an as-needed basis.
MDOT: 2009 IBA 3-year Structural Engineering

H&H will be providing the following services:
The project will be a 3-year On-Call Services contract. It will include the annual bridge safety inspections and 2 fracture critical inspections in 2009 & 2011. It will also include creating a 3-D computer model for structural analyses. Other tasks will be assigned on an as-need basis.
Suffolk County DPW: Term Contract for Professional Services

H&H will be providing the following services:
H&H will provide the Suffolk County Department of Public Works with Civil/Highway, Bridge/Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, and Geotechnical Engineering and Architecture for design, construction support and construction inspection including studies, investigations, condition assessment, recommendations, reporting, cost estimating.
2009 Smith Point Bridge Interim Repair

H&H will be providing the following services:
As subconsultant to Dunn Engineering, H&H will provide Electrical & Mechanical Field Investigation, and Preliminary and Final Design for the Interim Rehabilitation of the Smith Point Bridge. Designed by H&H in 1959 it carries 2-lanes over the Great South Bay on 19 spans with a double leaf bascule center span and pre-tensioned concrete stringer approach spans. The project goal is to extend the service life of the existing bridge for ten years until the bridge can be replaced. Construction is scheduled for Fall 2010.
