Hardesty & Hanover provided construction engineering and inspection services (CEI) for the new Gilmerton Bridge. The new structure is located in the City of Chesapeake and carries Route 13 (South Military Highway) over the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River. The proposed bridge spans 1908′-2″ and consists of 21 spans including a central 250′ vertical lift span. Scope included providing CEI services for all facets (structural, mechanical, and electrical) of the lift span and tower construction. CEI services for this project included field inspection/testing, shop inspection/testing, submittal review, RFI/RFD review, engineering analysis, schedule review, and other miscellaneous tasks.
