H&H is part of the team that designed the new Innovation, Science & Technology Building for Florida Polytechnic University. The building was recently named one of the 16 most breathtaking buildings in the world by Tech Insider Magazine. H&H was specifically responsible for the design of the mechanization system for a brise soleil (sun shading system). This dramatic, futuristic building, features hydraulically-activated, individually programmable louvers follow the sun’s movement through the sky over the course of a day.
In addition to classrooms, laboratories, administration offices, and common spaces, the striking new two-story structure (designed by noted architect Santiago Calatrava) also features a large amphitheater that is used for hosting exhibitions, lectures and graduation ceremonies. The new building also establishes the design theme for the rest of the structures under the campus master plan. Until the other buildings are constructed, the new Innovation, Science & Technology building will function as the campus itself; being able to accommodate various events and functions.
